The membership as approved in 1982 by NCUA is defined as follows: "The field of membership shall be limited to those having the following common bond:
Employees of Auburn University who work in or are paid from Auburn, Alabama; members of the Board of Trustees of Auburn University; employees of the City of Auburn; employees and students of Auburn City Schools; employees of the U.S. Government and the Economic Research Service who work in or are supervised from Auburn or Opelika, Alabama; spouses of persons who died while within the field of membership of this credit union; employees of this credit union; persons retired as pensioners or annuitants from the above employment; members of their immediate families; and organizations of such persons; Provided, however, that this field of membership shall not include any employees in groups of 500 or more employees who work in or are assigned to any city or town work location not specifically named above, but the employees in any group disqualified by this exclusion may be considered within this field of membership for not more than one year after the group is so disqualified."
The mission of AUFCU is three-fold:
Just come by or call the Credit Union office, and fill out an application. There is an entrance fee of only $1.00 to join. Any employee of Auburn University, Auburn University at Montgomery, members of the A.U. Board of Trustees, employees of the U.S. Government and the State of Alabama who are assigned to Auburn University and work in Auburn, Alabama, employees of the Soil Conservation Service and the Economic Research Service who work in or are supervised from Auburn or Opelika Alabama, employees of the Credit Union, spouses of persons who died while in the field of membership of this Credit Union, persons retired as pensioners or annuitants from the above employment, members of their families while the member is within the field of membership defined above, (families are defined as all children, grandchildren; brothers, sisters of both husband and wife members and their spouses, plus parents and grandparents) and organizations of such persons are eligible to join.
